Fashion Details Make the Difference (volume)

The Italian  Federation of Textile Accessories and Hat Producers Tessilivari has sponsored the realization of the volume “Fashion Details Make the Difference: excellence in tulle, lace, embroidery, ribbons and passamenterie” dedicated to the beauty and importance of  fashion details produced in Italy that contribute in making and enhancing style and fashion.

The volume has been published in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of International Trade and the Italian Trade Commission.

According to the introduction by Emma Bonino – the Minister of International Trade,  they are “the microchips of Made in Italy Textiles”. Details are one of those extraordinary resources that distinguish Italian textile production, a liaison between handcraft and technology, and are synonymous with intelligence and creativity. Despite the minority role they play within a complex scenario, ribbons, lace, tulle, embroideries and passamenterie “act” like microchips, and improve the value of garments making them unique and unparalleled.

Furthermore, fashion details are one of the most efficient weapons against counterfeits, as explained by Umberto Vattani, President of the Italian Trade Commission: “with respect to international competition, now more than ever, details make the difference. The higher the technology degree, the better it works against abusive reproduction”.

With a view to strengthen the image of Made in Italy production of textile details, the Federation  that groups small and medium size textile producers, has decided to publish this volume in order to present  the  prestigious features obtained by its member companies in terms of appearance and technology to the press and the international trade.

The strong focus on unique accessories, elegance, and the continuous reference to the well-known Italian style and refined taste, have  turned  modern details into a distinguishing element of the Italian fashion business. As a result of the outstanding degree of creativity and perfection they have reached,  these  complementary ornaments are now a necessary peculiarity.

Well-known professionals have contributed to the realization of this volume:

Lucia Serlenga – Curator of the entire volume – given her experience as a fashion and culture journalist  she reported on, and highlighted the creativity and perfection of modern industrial textile details.
Elena Banfi – Young and enterprising  advertising journalist
Annalisa Campara – Stylist of textile accessories and member of the Moda IN Style-Technical Committee
Daniela Fedi – Fashion and costume journalist  for Il Giornale and Lifestyle
Marco Fortis – Vice President of Fondazione Edison and lecturer in Industrial Economy and Foreign Trade,  Università Cattolica in Milan
Barbara Trebitsch – Fashion designer and Director of the Domus Accademy Fashion Department

including the opinions of leading Made in Italy creatives, such as Antonio Marras and Laura Lusuardi (fashion director at Max Mara),

Finally, the influential reports by Paolo Bagnara, fashion and costume journalist for Donna and Corriere della Sera, and Luciana Parabiago, Director of Vogue Sposa and Vogue Bambini add the conclusive touch to the volume.

Their qualified support and the analytical implication of their concepts paved to the way for developing and presenting new opportunities for Italian fashion details.
